Well, it is official. Lauren has a bottom and top tooth, adjacent from each other. If you stick your finger in her mouth, you will get bitten! Ouch! Now, this may be a taboo subject for blogging but I am going to talk about it anyway.. Nursing!
Yes, I said it! Lauren is 10 months old now, and I am ready to start the process of weaning. She actually takes a bottle rather well, she doesn't discriminate where her food comes from, and no longer has milk allergies, so formula is much less-expensive now. Nursing has been wonderful, and I have loved every minute of it, but I am ready for a little nursing-independence. Let me walk you through some pros and cons of nursing a 10 month old baby girl who just happens to have a little "sass!"
Pro #1. Continual nursing bond with my babe.
#2. Cheap! No formula required.
#3. Not true for everyone: But, helps me with my baby weight.
#4. Easy, no prep-time. Always on the go!
#5. No menstrual cycle! :)
Con #1. To leave her means to pump. ughh!
#2. She can pull on my shirt now, and at times can pull the neck of it down. Accidental flashing!
#3. Sharp pointy little teeth.
#4. Now that she gets distracted more easily, she is a drifting nurser, instead of staying on until she is finished.
So, there you have it. True confessions of a mom who is going to start weaning her daughter. I hope to have her all the way weaned, including last-but-not-least-nightly nursings, by her 1st birthday... which is on December 29th! Wish me luck!

you can do it! independence is a wonderful, wonderful thing...
and I'm glad you have a blog now!
I'm so glad you went through all of this before me! haha...I'm expecting some good tips!
Hey, don't listen to that "mom guilt" of not doing it for a year. I did it that long for Hannah. She, too, got teeth and I stopped because of fear of getting bit! I think these days, doing it for ten months is a lot longer than most. Nursing seems to be the thing of the past, so congrats on making it that long! And only two months of formula!! That's great! :)
