Lauren had her one-year checkup today.
She is doing great! She weighs a whooping 21 pounds and 14 ounces, and is 29.87 inches long. This almost quadruples her birth weight- which was 5 pounds 12 ounces. She loves LOVES to eat table food, and eats like a truck-driver most days. We have started the weaning off of bottles and off of formula. It has not been easy at all, but it will happen eventually. She no longer has an allergy to milk protein, so we can start whole milk. She loves broccoli, meatloaf, carrots, fruits of all kinds, chicken, and water. We have not introduced juice yet- partly because our doctor is strict on no-juices- but she drinks water really well.
I need advice though, on the weaning process. How in the heck do I wean her off of bottles, especially at night? How do I wean off of the mid-afternoon bottle of milk to water in a sippy cup?
Any advice for temper-tantrums? When she gets redirected, she will throw her back out, and hit her head, both forwards and backwards. Which of course, does not feel very good. We are having the hardest time clothing her, changing her diapers, and clipping her nails. Her little nails are like daggers right now, because I can usually only get 2 at a time. I have tried when she is sleeping, but she is the lightest sleeper!
